Parasprites. Ooooh god. Anyways, I love the way you do your backgrounds! It's very fitting of the scene. Not to mention your lighting and shading, which is very pretty in its own way! Her expression is well done, and everything about this is great! I can't think of one bad thing to say about this, not one critique. <3
I'm going to start and end by saying I love this, and I only critique (not criticize) if people ask for it OR if I really like it.
First thing I noticed was that her head looks a bit small. Proportionally, either following the show's style or a more realistic pony style, her head doesn't quite seem to scale. Actually her ear looks a tad big, almost as if it's sized for how her head should be. Also, I like the shape of her chest, but it looks like it goes out a bit far (just a hair). The third thing is that her belly looks a bit flat. The belly's roundness "should" just about go down to the joint on the back legs. I base that off the show, but real horses/ponies have a more curved stomach too. It still has some roundness and still dips, but, like the chest, that could use a tiny adjustment.
I can't imagine how long this took to make though. 5 hours? 10? Hopefully not more or I'd feel bad about being this honestly picky. The detail in the shapes and colors of the background makes this such a pretty picture and REALLY helps the mood. The translucency of her reflection in the puddle is so well done. You also have a very realistic look for her hair texture and the mane/tail are just the right length. I also forgot to mention how much I like the wings. It's hard for me to find wings I like on this site. They look the right length so that they'd fold up and fit nicely on her side, yet they're not tiny. Obviously the feather detail is very attractive too. I just noticed how bizarre your style is to me. You take the show's scaling for her muzzle, eye shape, and leg detail, yet you gave more "realistic-sized" eyes and wings. Either way, it looks great.
Thank you! First of all, thanks for your remark about propotions. It's really helpful. I had the feeling that something is wrong with this picture, but just couldn't figure it out. I believe it took me 6-7 hours. Can’t say exactly. And yes, you're not picky or something. I always appreciate constuctive criticism. ^_^
You're right. The order of the layers in this picture was messed up (I accidentially placed the cutiemark layer under the backgroung layer, lol). XD Thank you for pointing that out, I have just replaced the image with the right one.
